
| Biography | After a PhD in natural science (1990) at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETHZ) and post-doctoral research at the Laboratoire de Métallurgie Physique (EPFL) and the Welding Research Institute (Osaka University), Amédée Zryd has been active in the industry. Starting in 1993, he worked for Charmilles Technologie, world leader in electro-discharge machining, as Application Manager and then Applied Research Manager. He took over a new challenge in 2002 when he joined Cresco Ti Systems, a start-up in the dental implant business, as Chief Technical Officer. After the acquisition of Cresco Ti Systems by Astra Tech, he worked as R&D manager for this company. In 2009, he was hired as Professor in Material Science at the University of Applied Sciences Western Switzerland in Sion In parallel, Amedee Zryd has pursued his interest for natural sciences, in particular glaciology, and published several books on this topic. The latest has recently received the Prix William Huber from the Société de Géographie de Paris. See also my linkedin page.
